Rodolfo ‘WOX’ Rincones is a Mexican American filmmaker and visual artist. Rodolfo is from the very politicized US/Mexican border, El Paso and Juarez, and only child of Mexican migrants. Against all odds, he completed two bachelors at the University of Texas at El Paso, in Graphic Design and Painting. In this time he developed a wide understanding of composition, color, light, form, the inner discovery through art, and the interweavable aspect of art. He began experimenting with film and sound, and enjoyed how all the mediums came together to tell a story, so he became a self-taught filmmaker. He began working for an Oral History Institute at the University on the spare time, where he learned technical skills in dealing with cameras, lights and sound on set, as well as a wide range of interviewing and production skills, filming and editing 100 Oral History interviews. In this time, he also worked on multiple community public Murals, and on music videos for local bands, and short films for pleasure of creating.
In 2014, Rodolfo moved to Fairfield, Iowa, and received his MA and MFA from the Maharishi International University. His thesis short film “DreamLogic” (2017) was a semifinalist at the 47th Student Academy Awards among other festivals. His co-directed short film “ChronoLogic” (2020) was selected at 14 national and international festivals. He has worked as director, production designer, art department, editor, motion graphics, VFX and animator for various international projects.Rodolfo is currently creating an animated feature film “The Madhaus” and would like to keep adding creative skills to his repertoire to create further works of art. He is highly inspired by surrealism, philosophy, ideas about consciousness and the subconscious, music, Latin American and Eastern myths, suburbanization/industrialization, and showing a Utopia and Dystopia, social, spiritual and political themes are all recurring aesthetics and themes in his work. He would like to find the thin line between painting and filmmaking.
Rodolfo is currently adjunct faculty at Maharishi International University teaching Digital Arts and Motion Graphics and Animation. Rodolfo is also actively seeking opportunities to create independently, to gain further experience and learn from established professionals, by observing and participating with plans of pursuing personal projects with the intent of communicating the importance of consciousness and fulfillment of the human potential.
